Christ is our perfect example in all things. Our goal is to become more like Him, and that means learning a lot while we’re here on earth. But learning to be like Christ by only reading the scriptures will only get you so far. We also need to learn of Christ in our day-to-day lives, which means looking for Christ in those around us. Mothers are probably the best examples of this. We spend so much time around them while we’re young and their examples (along with our fathers’ examples) make the greatest impact on us.
t’s always good to look back after the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to review what stood out and what was taught during the Conference. So today, let’s highlight a few of the themes that were discussed throughout the April 2021 General Conference.
Easter is a time that brings a lot of reflection. I find myself thinking about my standing before God more than other times of the year and about all that Christ did. His life, His mission, His love are all more front of mind, and it makes this time of year sacred.
Repentance is literally our key to returning to our God. It is a gift from Christ through His Atonement to make sure it is possible for us to have agency and to grow and progress without being permanently lost.
The words of Christ and His prophets are still the most powerful I’ve read. Their words are overwhelming in their truth and doctrine. Testimonies of God, of change, of healing, of progress, and of power fill the pages of scripture.
We humans are really good at making messes. But in any situation we face, Christ can make things right.
It seems to me that a person who magnifies Christ’s name in their heart is also someone who knows Christ deeply. It only takes small efforts to help us all magnify His name a little more in our hearts. Here are a few ideas to help us invite Him in more.
Christ shows up in our lives because He loves us and has sacrificed for us. Looking for how He shows up in our lives helps us recognize His love and awareness of us. It helps us see that we matter to Him, even when we fall short or don’t do everything we should.
There are little things that you can do – or might already be doing – that will bring you closer to God, especially when you feel like you don’t measure up or you need to be better.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of looking back on years like they were miserable and frustrating. I’m tired of the good things always being in some abstract future place that doesn’t exist. I’m ready for joy.
